Backpack or Tour Package

If you are interested in seeing the beauty of a Thousand Islands, you can choose either to take a tour package or go by yourself as backpacker. But, let's see what will you get when you choose one

If you take tour package, which you can choose on the internet or in this site :), you will get many facility without finding by yourself. In one package, you can get place to stay or we call it "homestay" full with air conditioner, TV, and bed for sleep like in Hotel. One homestay can accommodate 5 to 15 people. Then you will get a set of snorkeling tools: snorkel, google, flippers, and life jacket. You also do not need to bother to find some foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some package sometime offering you a barbeque after dinner. You will also be accompanied by local guides if you take a package. They will show you to some beautiful spot, watch the sunset and sunrise, and prepare for your accommodation. Of course this is need an equivalent money. For 2 days and 1 night, you will be charge from Rp 300.000 - Rp 350.000 for complete package. So, I think, if this is your first time, just take the package.

Then how about Backpack? This type is suite for you who like travelling. You just spend a little cost but you can feel all sensation. But there are some fix price which you can't changed like Ferry. It costs Rp 35.000 - 40.000. You may join fish ship or cargo ship to some islands, but it can be done if they (the captain and crew) let you join them. With backpack, you may build a tent and camp in some lonely island like Bira Island, Tongkeng Island, and other. For me, I choose backpack because I know the condition hehe :)

Tidung Island

Alhamdulillah, Finally I went to Tidung Island this year. Yeay I completed the Three Main Island. Pramuka in the middle, Kelapa on the north, and Tidung on the south. Now I'll give you a few information about This weekend-crowded Island.

Tidung it self was taken as their (people who lived in Tidung Island) origin tribe. Tidung was known as the one of Borneo's tribes which prefer to stay close to the beach rather than in the forest. Most of people in this tribe sail fair away from Kalimantan to Java. Before it reach Java, some of them find some island, then stay there for a long time. One of that island located in Thousand Islands and it's called Tidung Island.

Then what is Tidung Island look like? Actually this is not my first time to Tidung Island, I'd have here before to create a seminar from e-miracle (www.e-miracle.com). But forget about it, it 100% work and 0% vacation haha :). Back to main question, Tidung has 2 island, we called it "Tidung Besar" as main island, and "Tidung Kecil" as the second, Both island was connected by semicircle bridge called "Jembatan Cinta" or Love Bridge. Rumors said that if you took a picture of you and your girl or boy friend, you will stay forever with her/him. Another rumors said that if you jump from the top of the bridge to the sea, you will fall in love with this island and will come back to this Island.

But, I have found the fact that only few people know this. This bride actually build on two purposes. First it's build so that we can travel from Tidung Besar to Tidung Kecil easily. Second, it's build with semicircle shape so that the ferry which from Jakarta or Tanjung Pasir to Pramuka Island or Kelapa Island can take a shortcut. But when this bridge finished, the second purpose never realize because there are more coral unter this bridge.
